Engineering Thermally Resistant Catalytic Particles for Oxidative Coupling of Methane Using Spray-Drying and Incorporating SiC

Oxidative coupling of methane (OCM) is a promising single-step route to convert natural gas high-valued chemicals. It generally agreed that Mn–Na–W catalysts offer balanced conversion–selectivity trade-off. The present work outlines novel SiC–SiO2 support synthesized by spray drying extend the lifetime catalyst. Incorporating SiC into enables exothermic reaction heat be effectively dissipated, avoiding hotspots and thermal shocks, increasing resistance. technique yields particles with consistent distribution inside particles, amplifying resistance Our kinetic results show dried catalyst has significantly higher stability at high C2 selectivity compared benchmark SiO2-supported prepared wetness impregnation. This result due (1) more uniform active phases provided methodology (2) greater SiC, which avoids shocking stabilizes during long-term (70 h) test for OCM.
